Students for the Lives of Children in Conflict
Purpose:
Our organization has two primary goals: First, with our focus beginning in southern Africa, we will raise awareness of the conflict occurring in various areas of the world dealing with the abduction of children for their use as soldiers in various rebel armies. Our organization will also raise awareness about all of the current needs of these children. Second, we will raise money, collect various sorts of donations, come up with ideas to eventually create educational programs, and above all, we will work together to come up with solutions to truly help these children. The money collected through fundraising will be put toward spreading awareness further at USP and other college communities, inspiring young people to help fight for this cause, creating shelters for the children and their families, sending food and clothing, building schools, and any other way that it can help. A portion of the fundraising money will initially be donated to outside organizations fighting for this cause, until this organization can create an opportunity to help directly. The secondary goal of the organization is to spread interest throughout the rest of the college community in Philadelphia, and eventually expand even further. When the organization eventually expands off campus, the USP organization will become a chapter of the main organization. The members of this organization will be benefited first and foremost by being given a place in which they can actually make a significant difference in the world and in the lives of these children. They will be given a place in which their participation and ideas can be brought to reality and put into action. Members will have the opportunity to watch and make their ideas grow into something that can truly, positively, affect these children. Second, this organization will benefit the students of USP by expanding their perspective to a more global outlook on the problems that exist in the world. Through speakers, and other information they will be exposed to, students will come to understand more thoroughly the problems for not only all of these children across the world, but the problems their families face as well. This will help them prioritize their contributions to their community, country, and world as they continue to mature.
